We just got back from Idaho and Utah. Our reason for going was to help Jeffrey drive out to his Summer internship with Idaho National Laboratories. He'll be in Idaho Falls all summer. After we unloaded his stuff, we all headed down to Salt Lake City. We walked around temple square, and Jeffrey took a tour of the Conference Center, since he's never seen it. We also met up with Alicia Kimball, a sister missionary who served in Romania. She was able to take us on a book tour - which I thoroughly enjoyed - at a nearby rare book shop. A session in the Salt Lake City temple put the icing on the cake.
Reminiscing was on our agenda as well, so we traveled down to Provo and walked around the campus. I took lots of pictures of the places where I'd lived, and Jeffrey got to hear all our stories. He loved that ;-).
Best of all, we stayed with the Ellis family, and Jeff had the opportunity to lay a new floor for them on their main level. This helped us so much - since we are always in need of money (jobless, homeless). It was actually pretty fun since everyone pitched in to help. What a fun family! Lynn Ellis is Jacki's sister. Jacki Divis is Jeff's sister-in-law (Married to Jim). We had a lot of fun at church trying to explain the connections.
Also, I got a good look at the brand new Church History Library in Salt Lake City, and the brand new alumni house (Hinckley House) on BYU campus.
We came home by plane, which was a story in itself - having been delayed, cancelled, rerouted, and finally arriving home to KC through Phoenix in the middle of the night. Thank goodness for a good Home Teacher who was willing to give up sleep to come pick us up. Apparently, we missed the big storm, arriving only a couple of hours after it went through. They say it was a big one, with wind, rain and tornadoes. The fun never ends!!
